Interested in UDL but pressed for time? This introductory course has been designed to succinctly and effectively communicate why UDL is so important to 21st-century education, the core tenets of what UDL is and is not, and how to begin your UDL journey. 

This course is being offered as a pilot with an embedded feedback form that will help us put out a revised version in Fall 2020. 

    Objectives: 
    Describe the concept of learner variability and its implications for an industrial system of education
    Explain the myth of the average student
    Analyze your current practice for elements designed for average
    Analyze the four key components of learning.
    Identify examples of Universal Design in the physical environment
    Describe how UDL requires us to "change our aim" as educators.
    Describe the three core components of the UDL design process
    Generate UDL-aligned goals
    Apply the UDL Guidelines to anticipate barriers and develop supports and options for students to meet the learning goal.
    Apply the Plus One Approach to an existing lesson in order to address the most significant barrier to learning.
    Locate resources to further your practice and join the international UDL community
